Ok! So paint the av of your choice.

1.


Go to Image / Decrease Color Depth / 2 Colors (1 Bit)
You can play around, but the exact
settings I use are the following:

Palette Component - Grey Values
Reduction Method - Ordered Dither
Palette Weight - Should Be Nothing

Image should look similar to this.

2.


Next, copy image, then hit edit / undo, paste the image
onto the original painted av.
Go to your Layers Palette and drag the
Raster 1 layer back to 50 and the blend mode
should be Luminance (legacy)

Next erase to your liking and voila.

The image should now look like this.
